I met Scott Jablow, Candidate for Mayor of Sedona, So You Don’t Have To
A guide for discerning untrustworthy "Politicians" from "Privaticians" who will serve as honest stewards and community servants
I winter outside of Sedona, Arizona, the city of light, and had started this article several months ago and wanted to finish it up before the local election. I am publishing it as an example of how you can determine if your local political candidates are scammy politicians OR honest stewards and community servants.
Some friends had a reception for Scott Jablow, vice mayor and candidate for Mayor of Sedona, and Jennifer Strait, a candidate for City Council, earlier this year which I attended with great interest. I have been getting the lay of the land politically in Sedona and recently penned an article describing how voluntaryists can morally navigate the political process: Can Politics (Poly-Tics) Be Moral - Advice for Politicians and Aspiring Politicians from Sedona - The City of Light.
I wanted to provide my take on Mr. Jablow’s proposal for Sedona and what I thought about him as a potential mayor. First, on a positive note, Mr. Jablow seemed personable enough, and one of my acquaintances insists that he is both honest and available to his constituents. Mr. Jablow recounted several times that he was available by telephone from 8 in the morning until eight at night at 928-239-1720.
The negatives
Mr. Jablow is definitely a politician. He reminded me of HL Mencken’s quote, which I will reproduce below.
Scott has embraced Sedona’s two “hot button” issues, off-road vehicles and short-term rentals, which I break down in more detail in Can Poly-Tics Be Moral. He had latched onto them in a sincere attempt to help or, more likely, simply for political benefit.
Scott Jablow Doesn’t Understand “Rights” from “Wrongs”
Listening to Mr. Jablow’s talk, it became abundantly clear that he doesn't understand “Rights” from “Wrongs” OR even what a “Right” is. Jablow was simultaneously promising to protect rights while, five minutes later, threatening to violate the rights of the owners of off-road vehicles and short-term rentals. I asked Scott if he knew the definition of the word “Right” and was somewhat shouted down by a couple of audience members. I thought it was a fundamental question because, for those who believe in “government,” isn’t the government’s number one responsibility, the protection of the rights of minorities against the tyranny of the majority (mob rule)?
For the record, the word “Right” comes from the natural law tradition, which has been the basis for understanding morality for thousands of years across multiple civilizations. It is essentially a codification of the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
A “Right” is essentially anything that is not a “Wrong.”
In natural law, there are essentially five main transgressions (Assault, Rape, Theft, Trespass and Coercion (murder is the theft of life), and they are all obviously “Wrongs” in there is a victim who has been harmed or whose rights have been violated. Anything that's not a “Wrong” is a “Right.” If you're not hurting anyone else, you have the right to be left alone and not be robbed and mulct by politicians catering to the majority to get elected.
Scott Jablow was a police officer.
Mr. Jablow shared that he was a police officer and senior police accident investigator with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for over 30 years. As the co-founder of an organization working to reform the criminality of victimless crimes in policing, The THICKREDLINE Project, I view this as a negative. In 2020 and 2021, I spent almost an entire year searching the United States for honest and moral Sheriffs and police chiefs willing to take a THICKREDLINE stand and refuse to use violence on peaceful people to enforce the economic warfare of Covid lockdowns.
I concluded that very few sheriffs, police chiefs, deputies and officers understand basic morality. Essentially, the police are “order-followers” who check their morality at the door and take the job knowing they will have to enforce all the laws… even though many are manifestly unjust, cruel and wicked… I.E., they are volunteering to use violence on peaceful people for politicians… The uniform and the badge are a sign that they are amoral.
Scott Jablow doesn't believe taxation is theft.
After I questioned him about how he would pay for many of the promises he made to the group, it became clear that he has no problem writing checks that can only be cashed by robbing the population of the money they have saved and earned.
He proudly proclaimed the tax base is 80% tourists at one point! I replied: “I don't think we should be robbing them either,” to which he looked stunned... he couldn’t comprehend that some people don’t believe in the theft of taxation! Evidently, it is OK to rob others if they don’t live geographically close to you!
What Sedona Needs in a “mayor”… until it doesn’t need a “mayor” at all
In my book “Government” – The Biggest Scam in History… Exposed! I break down how “Government” was never intended to protect life, liberty and property. It is a technique for robbing and controlling populations who have been indoctrinated into the belief system in mandatory schools run by the “Government,” where the belief in the legitimacy, desirability and necessity of having a “government” is instilled before kids are old enough to evaluate the logic and morality of the claim. The artificial legitimacy of the belief system is then reinforced by Hollywood, monopoly media, and propaganda, where most people never encounter the truth about “the system.” Essentially, the inter-generational organized crime organizations who tax-farm the population using “government” have an informational advantage over their tax slaves and trick them into going along with something that isn’t in their interest.
The good news is that we don’t need “government.” The world is a self-organizing system that produces spontaneous order. Everything the “government” does would be better accomplished by the free market, mutual aid societies, non-profits and real charities. Give the population and businesses of Sedona back the money being stolen by the “government,” let them voluntarily organize themselves and watch the community flourish. That political philosophy and movement are known as Voluntaryism, and it is the only “ism” that is fair for everyone. No one gets the ring of power. No one has “Rights” that others don’t, and no one gets an exception from morality… especially “government”!
To get there, we don’t need Politicians like Scott Jablow; we need Privaticians who understand that “government” is an illogical and immoral scam and are only running to serve as honest stewards and community servants by privatizing everything that can be privatized and ONLY protecting life, liberty and property.
How can you tell if your mayoral candidate is a Privatician and not a Politician? I created a little pledge. If they don’t understand the basics of morality and aren’t willing to pledge publicly never to vote to rob and redistribute no matter how worthy the perceived benefits are, then they aren’t worth your time or vote.
