I was brainwashed to be the perfect supporter of Israel until I got back from Peace Corps and read "Pity The Nation" by Robert Fisk (650 pages). That destroyed all of my illusions, plus I had become friends with several Lebanese in Liberia before the war. Then I read about 6 more books on how Israel came to be, what is happening to the Palestinians, Ariel Sharon murdering the first UN Representative on Israeli soil in an ambush. But the one book that is a must read is "By Way of Deception" by Viktor Ostrovsky on the Mossad. I hope he is still living a good life in Canada.
You know how the spy movies always portray the Mossad characters as good cooks, or family oriented, and there's always a long table scene where everyone bonds... Once you finish Mr. Ostrovsky's book, you'll know that the entertainment activity at the Mossad HQ is far different.
There's another full-on propagandist to watch out for: Daniel Silva. I've read all of his books but I finally got fed up with the last one. It was SO blatant, even for a fiction work, it was sickening what he or his editors were trying to do to the reading audience. They even put a special lecture section after the end of the novel for those who wanted deeper mind control programming. I wrote to the author/editor about it and sent the book back. It was disgusting how stupid they must think we are...
